C-TPAT Compliance:(Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism)

C-TPAT is a joint US government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen overall supply chain and border security.

C-TPAT is aligned with the Canada Customs Partners in Protection (PIP) program to form the joint Free and Secure Trade (FAST) program that supports the efficient and timely movement of pre-approved goods across the border.

C-TPAT recognizes that the highest level of security will only be achieved through close cooperation with the ultimate owners of the supply chain - importers, carriers, brokers, warehouse operators and manufacturers.  

In applying for C-TPAT certification, companies must conduct a comprehensive self-assessment of their supply chain security procedures using the C-TPAT security criteria or guidelines.

Beyond the essential security benefits, C-TPAT certified members are eligible to receive fewer numbers of border inspections and priority processing for border inspections, thereby reducing border delay times. Certified members are also potentially eligibile for an Importer Self-Assessment program with an emphasis on self-policing.
